Description of Example Analysis with the High Impact Targeting (HIT) System

Use of the High Impact Targeting (HIT) GIS Web-accessible System is demonstrated in the following figures. Over the web, sediment risk maps can be examined and “zeroed” in on to locate high potential sediment delivery sources (fields). Segment “A” shows a roughly 30 square mile area of watershed that can be examined to rapidly locate and magnify high risk contributing areas. Segment “B” shows an enlarged map area while “C” shows further enlargement with a photographic overlay of the area. Segment “D” shows this resolution with the photo overlayed with the sediment risk map. Specific problem areas can be interpreted from segment “E” by overlaying the sediment risk map over the photograph. Segment “F” shows contour lines and three example areas of high sediment delivery. Thus, a watershed can very rapidly be analyzed and high risk sediment contributing fields identified.
