The MSDSSP believes that an essential part of its mission is to serve local communities by developing decision support tools and providing local government officials, watershed management groups, community planners and State with a variety of information that helps them use the tools as well. Thus, we are making the presentations available that members of the MSDSSP have made on decision support tools such as Digital Watershed, LTHIA, Window to My Environment etc. We are also providing presentations developed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and USEPA on the use of these tools to assist decision makers at all levels of government to integrate Land Use planning and Watershed Management.
Any community looking for additional economic growth or “Smart Growth” need not develop plans in a manner that negatively impact the environment. Our presentations offer concrete suggestions to a community of any size so they can begin to ask the appropriate questions for any proposed development project. The presentations provide examples of environmental and land use change analysis. We offer these examples to encourage communties to customize a variety of alternatives to solve their own individual community problems – not to take as one size fits all, black box answers. We hope that anyone looking for a fresh approach will find our presentations helpful.
These presentations are provided to assist you as a communication tool as well. Please feel free to incorporate the ideas or parts of our presentations communicate and explain ideas or proposed options that best serve your community or level of government.
The presentations below are in Power Point (.ppt) file format. If you need a Power Point Viewer, you can download a free viewer from Microsoft.
