Addressing land use issues often involves an understanding of social, economic and environmental characteristics associated with land. Advanced technologies including databases and geographic information systems (GIS) allow a multitude of characteristics to be analyzed over areas and over time. In this section land use analysis and the data they utilize are outlined. Both work together to allow land use decision makers to effectively and efficiently address land use issues.
