Roving Window
One
of the most common neighborhood operations is the search function. The
search function assigns each target feature a value in accordance with
some characteristic of its neighborhood. The targets, the neighborhood,
and the function to be applied to the neighborhood to generate the neighborhood
value, are the three basic parameters to be defined in a neighborhood search.
Roving Windows, refers to the general class of operations that allow movement through the mapped area. The information summarized within these windows can be based on surface configuration or the mathematical summary of thematic values.
